Neighbourhood plans can identify and allocate sites for new development including housing, employment, business use, leisure and other forms of development. They can also protect and safeguard land for future uses such as open space. Carrying out a site assessment will provide the evidence that the sites assessed are the most appropriate — that they are in the most sustainable location, they are in conformity with the strategic policies of the Local Authority’s Local Plan and that there is a good prospect that they could be considered for development. For a site to be considered for development it must be suitable, available and economically viable.
The Neighbourhood Plan Team has sought to ensure that it identifies all possible sites and has endeavoured to ensure that those sites considered are:

At the bottom of this page, are the files containing all of the sites that have been assessed as possible sites to be considered for development within Thurston's Neighbourhood Plan. Each site has been given a generic number which has no reflection as to its suitability for development.
Following the analysis of factual errors and omissions on the site assessments as received during the public consultation held between August and September 2016 each file has been updated and contains a parish map indicating the location of that site, a high level assessment and a detailed assessment, should the high level assessment show that the site requires further assessment.
Please note that for those of you who are using an ipad or an iphone to open the documents, it is recommended that they are opened in iBooks which will allow the detail to be displayed.
The Site Assessments are an assessment of the deliverability of the site and not for the potential development that may go on the site which would form part of any planning application that might be submitted.
Anyone wishing to see copies of comments made during the public consultation should contact the Clerk to the Council to arrange a mutually convenient appointment on 01359 232854 or visit the Parish Council Offices on Tuesday or Friday between the hours of 10.00am to 3.00pm.
