All existing 43,400 streetlights, maintained by Suffolk County Council, will be replaced with greener, LED streetlights during 2021 to 2022. This will include some of the standard streetlights maintained by Suffolk County Council in Thurston are set to be upgraded to more efficient and environmentally-friendly LED lanterns.
Mid Suffolk District Council are carrying out a Community Governance Review of Parishes, Town Councils and Unparished areas.
Suffolk County Council are planning to install two new zebra crossing points, along with some footway works and road resurfacing along C559 Norton Road, Thurston (from Ixworth Road junction to Pakenham Road junction). The works will be carried out in 3 phases, as detailed below. The road will be closed for the duration to ensure that they can carry out their works safely. There has been another outbreak of Avian Influenza in Suffolk, this time in a backyard flock in Buxhall. A 3km Protection Zone and a 10km Surveillance Zone, have been put in place around the infected premises to limit the risk of the disease spreading (attached is a map of the zones).
