Suffolk County Council Highways Department are planning to carry out road marking works along C691 Barton Road, Thurston (from the junction of Hazelwood Close to the junction with Furze Close). The works are programmed to take place between 8 and 10 November 2021. The road will be closed each day between 9.30am and 3pm to ensure that they can carry out their works safely.
For the duration of the road closure, traffic will be diverted via Barton Road, Thurston Road, Great Barton, Pakenham Road, Thurston Road, Pakenham, Ixworth Road, Norton Road and vice versa.
As they plan roadworks in advance, they schedule extra days to allow for bad weather or other delays beyond their control. If they need to make major changes to their work dates, they will update the information signs on site.

When Suffolk County Council Highways close the road and put a diversion in place, the route needs to be accessible to vehicles of all shapes and sizes. They try and make their diversions as clear as possible by placing appropriate signing along the route. The latest updates on their works can be found on our website at "Temporary road closures for Suffolk Highways roadworks” and on One.Network website.
There may be times that essential emergency works are required to take place on the highway network without advanced notice – you can follow Suffolk Highways on Twitter for the latest emergency roadwork updates.
