National Highways are starting the next phase of our resurfacing work on the A14 between junction 43 (Bury St Edmunds) and 47a (Woolpit). This will include resurfacing, renewal of road markings and replacement of traffic signs.
They began this work in 2024 by resurfacing the A14 eastbound between junctions 44 and 47.
They will return on Tuesday 22 April to begin the next phase of work, which will last until August 2025. They will work between 8pm and 6am, weeknights only, weather conditions permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, they'll need to close the A14 between junctions 43 and 47a including slip roads at various locations throughout the work. Traffic will be diverted as follows:
A14 westbound between junctions 47 and 44
Tuesday 22 April to Tuesday 1 July
For drivers travelling westbound:
A14 eastbound between junctions 43 and 47a
Wednesday 2 July to Thursday 7 August
For drivers travelling eastbound:
