Get ready for September's Scarecrow Festival. No idea how to make a scarecrow? No problem! To encourage as many people as possible to take part, Thurston Library Friends have put together a practical hands-on workshop that will teach you and your children/grandchildren everything you need to know to make your scarecrow. There is no charge for attending. Please note: under 12's must be accompanied by an adult.

There will be some materials to make your scarecrow. However, anything you can bring will be really helpful, for example:

  • cane: garden or bamboo
  • old clothing and accessories: hat, clothes, gloves, shoes etc etc
  • newspapers for stuffing
  • plastic carrier bag (useful for making your scarecrow's head)
  • string
